Justice Reform Committee

Mt. Lebanon, a suburb just south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is far from being considered diverse. With a staggeringly white population (over 90%), this was no accident. Predominately white towns like ours have historically used self-segregation techniques in the form of systemic racism to prevent Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) from living and thriving here. The Justice Reform Committee (JRC) works to identify systemic racist policies in our local government and policing policies, and advocates to enact anti-racist and racial justice initiatives.

We aim to become a collaborative body with the Mt. Lebanon Commissioners and, if necessary, a pressure group to push the commission into action.

Talk About It

M.O.R.E’s Justice Reform Committee private Facebook group is the place to discuss the committee’s activities, to participate in its work, and to propose and vet new initiatives. Input gleaned from this group will provide a basis for the committee’s decisions on current initiatives and future directions. They will also inform deliberations by the general membership in group meetings.

Speak Out

The members of the Justice Reform Committee have an impressive degree of knowledge, insight, experience, resources, and relevant information that will shape our committee’s engagement in local politics. Anybody not presently on the committee is welcome to join. If you believe you have special skills, expertise, resources, connections that can help our efforts, please submit a volunteer application to make this information available to the Steering Committee and the JRC leadership.
