Political Guidance

Voting is a right granted to every citizen. We cannot have a democracy without people voting. It is an important responsibility and an easy way to get involved. #VotingMatters.

To help further our mission for racial equality and ending systemic racism in Mt. Lebanon, M.O.R.E will occasionally endorse candidates that share our values and beliefs and who we believe can help foster racial equity. We’ll also work to provide political guidance for relevant ballot questions and share opinions from like-minded community members, individuals, and organizations.

While we tend to focus locally on Mt. Lebanon, we cannot turn a blind eye to the larger systems as they ultimately affect us too. For that, we support, collaborate, and partner up with organizations that work in these areas.

Check out our ballot guide Making M.O.R.E Sense of the Primary Ballot published on May 7th that includes the results from a straw poll conducted with our members and followers. This political guidance was issued specifically for Pennsylvania’s Primary Election for May 18th, 2021.

Hilary Wheatley Taylor for Magistrate in District 05-2-19

M.O.R.E is proud to announce that we are endorsing Hilary Wheatley Taylor for Magistrate in District 05-2-19, serving Mt. Lebanon and Dormont.

Hilary’s positions reflect our values: she is not afraid to call out the racism that pervades our current system, to speak of the inequities of our cash-bail-driven system, and to condemn the ways that our current courts can harm members of marginalized communities. #BlackLivesMatter to Hilary.

A resident of Mt. Lebanon, Hilary has spoken powerfully about the need for the courts to be independent from the police, something which is close to the core of our interests. We also very much appreciate her focus on bringing more transparency to the courts. #TransparencyMatters to Hilary.
