Resources to Help Parents, Caregivers, and Loving Adults Talk to their Families About Race:
Talking about racism can be uncomfortable, but ignoring it is worse—especially in Mt. Lebanon where 92.6% of our community is white. As parents, caregivers, and loving adults, we have a responsibility to raise the next generation of change-makers who talk boldly about race. Here are some of M.O.R.E’s favorite resources to help families have age-appropriate discussions using tips, videos, and books to help inspire the next generation.

- Talking About Race – National Museum of African American History & Culture: Our goal is to help children understand what race is, how it operates in society, and why race in America is important. We hope the ideas and resources help guide the conversations with your children as they discover how race plays a part in all of our lives.
- Social Justice Books: Identifies and promotes the best multicultural and social justice children’s books, as well as articles and books for educators. This project is from Teaching for Change, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide teachers and parents with the tools to create schools where students learn to read, write, and change the world.

- Understanding Critical Race Theory: A (M.O.R.E) Nuanced Discussion: The aim of this article is for members of M.O.R.E and our allies to develop a deeper understanding of Critical Race Theory in order to enter national, statewide, and local conversations on this topic with a solid foundation.
