We Stand with Jacob Blake

On Sunday, August 23, 2020, the Kenosha Police in Wisconsin, shot Jacob Blake seven times in the back while his children watched. We are well past shock and surprise at hearing news of the shooting of unarmed civilians by law enforcement. The real shock is that these extrajudicial shootings are becoming commonplace. We brace for it. We expect it. We cry out in collective anguish and demand accountability. Accountability that all too often never comes. Pennsylvania State Representative Summer Lee informed us during their Virtual Panel on Police Reform on Wednesday, September 2nd, that it is technically legalRead More »We Stand with Jacob Blake

We Need Transparency to Identify the Problems!

Our Justice Reform Committee (JRC) had their first meeting yesterday since our new organizational structure was put in place. In order to make change in our community, the first step is identifying the problem. We can’t do that without first knowing pertinent information such as the statistics and policies in place that our police department keeps secret from us. Even our commissioners are not certain of the exact content of the document. It’s easy to hide a problem, or claim there isn’t one, when this information is not publicly accessible. Members of the JRC are meeting with Commissioner SteveRead More »We Need Transparency to Identify the Problems!

Group Meeting for June 18, 2020, Cancelled / Moving Online

The pandemic has forced the cancellation of our group’s in-person meetings for the foreseeable future. We just don’t have space to accommodate all who’d like to attend. We’ve rethought our organizational approach and are now moving online. The pandemic makes it impossible to to accommodate all the people who’d like to attend our next meeting. For various and understandable reasons, many of you have objected to the downsized meeting we planned to have this week. In response to these objections, we are now suspending in-person meetings for the foreseeable future. Plan B is now in operation. In lightRead More »Group Meeting for June 18, 2020, Cancelled / Moving Online
