In this episode, we feature four (4) speakers who are truly experts in housing rights and landlord/tenant matters.
Magisterial District Judge Mik Pappas was elected in one of the busiest magisterial districts for evictions. In less than 4 years he has worked with landlords and tenants with a mediation approach that has allowed him to reduce evictions in his district by nearly 40%.
Professor Jerry Dickinson, a national expert on Constitutional Law, and a local expert on the racial disparities in Pittsburgh housing, teamed up with Attorney Daniel Vitek to create a pro bono program to help low-income clients facing evictions.
Hilary Wheatley Taylor has been representing clients in landlord/tenant matters for over 15 years in the same courts she is seeking to preside over.
